Save some money and stay at Maitai, the overwater bungalows are half the price of most others on the island. They are beautiful, and the snorkeling underneath was the best we did on the island. We stayed in room five, and there was an octopus that lived underneath the bungalow, plus all the colorful tropical fish you could imagine.

It was our honeymoon. Bora Bora is arguably the most beautiful destination on the planet, and the Maitai is there. They've got the beach, the huts, the water, and access to all the restaurants and tours you need to fill an incredible week. It's probably not the most luxurious resort on the island, but it had everything we needed to enjoy the island, our honeymoon and our week. I've got no complaints.

Polynesia is a real heaven and the Maitai, a small hotel in total harmony with the Polynesian style. We stayed in a magnificent overwater bungalow, the food was delicious and abundant. You can book various excursions (I personally advise the Lagoonarium) directly from the reception and go for a ride by bicycle. I really recommend that to all of you!

After our wedding, the so expected moment of the honeymoon finally arrived… The dream has come true! Our first destination was the island of Bora Bora, we stayed at the Maitai hotel for 4 days. The hotel is really nice, Polynesian style, with an excellent value for money. The staff is really kind and nice and the food is fabulous. Too bad for the rain that partially blocked off the access to the paradise light! If you go there, don’t miss the chocolate cake, the mixed vegetables and the sea food salad… To make it short, you will be far from starving!!!

We spent the first 5 days of our honeymoon at the Maitai hotel…This has been a real surprise for a 3-star property. The travel agent recommended it, while specifying it was up to 5 stars standards… She was right! The hotel has 2 restaurants (one on the beach and one in the garden), I never ate twice the same dish! There is so much choice and the food is of really good quality, whether “a la carte” or buffet: tasty fresh fishes, very neat presentation of the plates, excellent meat (fillet from New Zealand) and the cakes…so arty! The resort is elegant and not pretentious, all in local style. The staff is kind and efficient, the bungalows roomy and spacious (local style interior design). I personally recommend the number 9 for its romantic location and view… You can appreciate it directly from the bed! Excursions are varied and gorgeous… You only have to choose!

The hotel is beautiful and the staff very caring. When you arrive, you will be offered a welcome cocktail and a lei made of gorgeous local flowers, and waiting for you on the bed, you will find a T-shirt for men and a pareo for women as honeymoon gifts. In addition, you eat well, I personally recommend the beach restaurant. They often organise evenings with dancing groups from Bora Bora.
Cassino - Italie
We spent one night in an overwater bungalow at the Maitai hotel after 3 nights at the Novotel (5 minutes walk), so we were able to experience the famous Polynesian overwater bungalows. The bungalow was great: well located, nice view, spacious, clean, and had a transparent table to see the fishes, a nice terrace and a direct access to the sea. Otherwise, good welcome, good restaurant (you have to try the basin shell casserole) and good surprise….breakfasts were included!
We warmly recommend to couples on their honeymoon to spend a night in the Maitai Polynesia hotel. We did not try other overwater bungalows, but those ones seemed to be of really good value for money!
